If I were to die tomorrow,
and I knew it for certain today,
I’d find a pen and start to write,
for I have a lot to say.
I’d tell my mother that I love her,
even on the difficult days,
I’d tell my friends that they’re amazing,
and wonderful in all kinds of ways.
I’d tell my father that I did my best,
to live life the way he showed me to,
and tell my brother how proud he’s made me,
in everything I’ve seen him do.
I’d cry a little and put the pen down,
It is quite difficult to say goodbye,
to the many people whom I love,
whom I’ll remember the day I die.
In the end I’ll go to my grandma,
and I’ll put my head in her lap,
while she talks to me of things long past,
and I settle in for the long final nap.
